BIG EVENTS ON & OFF THE PADDOCK:

After a hard fought win over the Greens to kick off round two of the comp and the second bye round, the Students provided what might prove to be a valuable reality check at this point of the season by defeating the Hawks with a solid second half come back. Last week saw a return to form with a comprehensive, if not expected, victory over Southern Beaches.

These top grade results are being facilited by the solid performances being put in by the lower grades and colt teams - where most are in or challenging for finals positions.

The annual Old Boys Reunion Day is this coming Saturday 12th July @ Passmore. As part of the 2008 Old Boys Reunion the Club is holding a special reunion for the 30th Anniversary of the 2008 Grand Final wining side which was the Club's first 1st Grade success having previously missed out in a narrow Grand Final loss in 1975 – for those of you who may have forgotten the team, the 1978 Grand Final winning side was:

  1. John Dawson
  2. Paul McMillan
  3. Brian Stephens
  4. Phil Payne
  5. Mark Chenery
  6. Peter Palmer
  7. Nick Walker
  8. Chris Lawson
  9. Mick Hillary
  10. Mick Avery
  11. Mark Crosbie
  12. Chris Paton
  13. John DeLore
  14. Gerry O’Neill
  15. Ray Barton
  16. Robert Tyson
  17. John McGarvie
  18. Richard Cusick
  19. Les Paton
  20. Mark Eades

So do yourself a favour and get along to see some of the best, most exciting club rugby in years.

About the Hawks ... Hamilton is one of the premier Rugby clubs in the Newcastle-Hunter Rugby Union. Founded in 1966 with just two junior teams, the club now supports four senior grades, a womens team as well as junior teams. The club also actively sponsors the development of rugby programs in primary schools in the district.

The Hawks are based at Wickham Park off Albert Street. The park includes two full sized fields (Passmore & Hawkins), a third juniors field, grandstand, hills, majestic fig trees and plenty of car-parking.

Our nest is the Sunnyside Tavern in Hamilton North. After training, after matches or just Sunday afternoons drop in for a cold beer and lot's of laughs.
