2009 LONG LUNCH
Merewether Golf Club
12.30pm for 1pm, Fri July 10
SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKERS
Former Wallabies Owen Finnegan & Bill Young
For many years Owen Finnegan & Bill Young were the pillars at the front & back off the Wallaby & Brumby packs.
At No.8 or Blindside Breakaway, Finnegan played 90 Super 14 matches for the Brumbies and was capped 56 times for Australia. He scored 31 Super 14 tries, a record for a forward at the time, but his most famous try was without doubt the one he scored in injury time to help Australia secure the 1999 World Cup.
Young, schooled at the famous Rugby nursery at St Joseph’s College Hunter Hill, played 100 Super 14 matches for the Brumbies and 46 Test matches for his country, becoming the Wallabies second most capped Front Rower, before an ongoing neck injury forced his retirement in 2006.
Both Finnegan and Young were members of the victorious 2004 Brumbies Super 12 Championship side.

2009 Coaches
Scott “Bubba” Coleman will again take the reigns for the Hawks in 2009 looking to build on the outstanding work he has done with the club over recent years, culminating in last season’s Minor/Major Premiership double.
A big welcome to new Premier 2’s coach, Andrew Fraser, joining the club with a wealth of experience including a stint as coach of the Central North rep side.
“Griffo”, Todd Griffith will be in charge of Colts and will no doubt be looking to the Colts brains trust of recent times, Nathan Beckett, Mick Byrnes and Pitty to continue their input and support.
Changes too in A & B Grade where Lee Clay and Col Mulhearn are going to work closely in a dual coaching team similar to that employed successfully in 1’s and 2’s. Congratulations to all coaches, managers and support staff on your appointments.

The club also actively sponsors the development of rugby programs in primary schools in the district. The Hawks are based at Wickham Park off Albert Street. The park includes two full sized fields (Passmore & Hawkins), a third juniors field, grandstand, hills, majestic fig trees and plenty of car-parking.
